Police: Man shot, killed in basement of NW Atlanta home

ATLANTA — Police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a man inside his northwest Atlanta home late Wednesday night.

Channel 2's Darryn Moore learned that Atlanta detectives are asking the public's help in the investigation.

Homicide investigators and the crime scene unit were in and out of the house on Vanderbilt Court Wednesday night looking for clues in a murder case.

It started when officers got a call of shots fired.

“When they arrived, when they came to the location they found a man in his late 20's shot at least one time,” said Lt. Charles Hampton.

Officers found the victim in the basement, but could not confirm if he was home alone, or any information about his killer.

“I'm not sure if we are looking for someone on foot or someone in a car,” Hampton said.
