Man arrested after he jumps on plane wing, pounds on windows at Atlanta airport, police say

ATLANTA — Officials at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport say a man has been apprehended on the tarmac of the airport after he scaled a fence, jumped on the wing of a plane and pounded on the windows.

The incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. and did not impact airport operations.

Atlanta Police arrested Jhryin Jones, 19, on the tarmac. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespassing, public indecency and obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Channel 2's Rikki Klaus obtained recordings from the control tower and the cockpit as the incident was unfolding.

“He is tossing some stuff around. My guess is he has his clothes off and now he’s laying on pavement…doing some pushups,” an official on the recording said.

Cell phone video shot by passengers shows Jones talking to himself and making gestures toward the plane, which had just landed from Miami.

The video shows that Jones was only wearing underwear.

Passengers who spoke to Klaus expressed concerns about the airport's security.

“Look into your security. Tighten it up a little bit, and make sure that this will never happen again,” one passenger told Klaus.
