Officials identify man found dead in pool after house fire

ATLANTA — The Fulton County Medical Examiner has released the name of a man found dead in a pool following a fire at his house.

Marcus Moseley, 48, died Saturday evening after a fire ripped through his home on Oriole Drive in southwest Atlanta.

Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach checked state records and found doctor Moseley’s medical license active and lists his specialties as internal and emergency medicine.

Gehlbach found he worked in many small town hospitals, from north to Dalton, south to Jackson and east to Elberton, as well as at the Fulton County jail taking care of inmates.

Investigators with the Atlanta Fire Department are investigating the fire as arson.

They are getting help from the ATF, who brought in a special accelerant and explosive sniffing dog to go through the home.

Witnesses say they saw Moseley running at "top speed" away from the home with barely any clothes on during the fire.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what sparked the fire, and how Moseley ended up dead on the bottom of a swimming pool.

"It's a shock, but everyone... thinks something is going on. That's more than just a house fire," one neighbor said.

Arson detectives are continuing to investigate.
