Power restored to nearly 10,000 people across the east metro

ATLANTA — Nearly 10,000 Georgia Power customers on the east side of Atlanta have had their power restored.

Residents tell Channel 2 Action News they first lost their power around 6 p.m.

Georgia Power’s outage map currently shows 2,611 customers without power. At one point, the map showed as many as 12,200 people were without power Tuesday night.

More than 3,700 of those customers were concentrated in the area of Redan Road near Martin and Panola roads in DeKalb County. Their power seems to have been restored, according to the map.

Georgia Power says they are still assessing the situation and do not currently have an estimated time for power to be restored.

There is also no word at this time on what caused the outage.
