Man says he was beaten, stabbed in Piedmont Park

A man is in the hospital after he said people beat and stabbed him in Piedmont Park.

Police tell Channel 2 someone attacked the man Saturday night while he walked through the park, listening to music.

They said the attacker grabbed the man by the back of his neck, choked him and then stabbed him repeatedly.

Once he was on the ground, police said the man realized there were several more attackers. They all kicked the man and demanded his wallet and the passcode to his phone.

The man refused, and the group took off.

Now, people at the park we spoke with said they are scared.

“I’m shocked because I come here a lot, even with my family, and I’ve never really seen this happen," said Tyler Neely.
