ATLANTA - Police arrested a man after an hours-long standoff in Atlanta overnight.

Channel 2's Darryn Moore was the only reporter present when the man surrendered.

The standoff forced neighbors out of their homes in the middle of the night.

It happened at an apartment complex along Moreland Avenue just south of Little Five Points.

Police say the man was on the third floor making terroristic threats.

Atlanta police said a woman called them Sunday just after 9 p.m., saying that 30-year-old Stephone Jefferson was acting erratically and threatening to kill others and himself.

The woman left the apartment. When police showed up and knocked on the door, they said Jefferson wouldn't come out. Instead, officers heard a loud bang that they later determined was a gunshot.

Eventually, Jefferson came out and gave up. Once officers went inside the apartment, they found the gun.

The suspect is at Grady Hospital now. Doctors will clear him before he's sent to jail.
