1-month-old shot as gunfire erupts outside Atlanta apartment, police say

ATLANTA — A one-month-old infant is currently at the hospital after being shot on Thursday afternoon.

Officers were called to The Commons Apartments on Middleton Rd. near the C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center just before 5:30 p.m.

They found the child who had been shot in the finger while inside one of the apartments.

Investigators say there was a shootout outside of the child’s home and one of the bullets entered the apartment and struck the child.

The child was alert, conscious and breathing when paramedics rushed the infant to the hospital.

The infant’s current condition is unclear.

Police have not released any details about possible suspects.
