Homeland Security investigating ‘cyber attack' against Secretary of State's office

ATLANTA — The United States Department of Homeland Security is responding to a letter from Georgia's Secretary of State after an apparent cyber attack, trying to breach the fire wall of the department's computer system.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson confirmed to Secretary of State Brian Kemp that he has launched an investigation into the incident.

DHS confirmed the IP address tied to the unsuccessful cyber attack came from a US Customs and Border Protection Internet Gateway. That agency falls under DHS.
