ATLANTA - A man is facing charges after police said he accidentally shot his two stepsons inside his northeast Atlanta home Sunday.

Atlanta police said Brandon Vicks was cleaning his pistol Sunday night when it discharged. The bullet ricocheted off the floor and then hit his 7-year-old stepson in the left hand and arm, then struck his 10-year-old stepson above the eye, police said.

Both children were taken to Egleston Children’s Hospital by ambulance.

There were three other children and an adult inside the home at the time of the shooting but no one else was hurt.

Vicks was arrested and charged with two counts of reckless conduct.
