Power restored in Midtown Atlanta after crash into pole

ATLANTA — Power is restored to nearly 1,000 people this morning hours after a car crashed into a power pole.

Authorities said the crash happened at South Prado and Piedmont Avenue early Thursday morning.

Georgia Power said 980 customers were without power in the area, but Channel 2's Kristen Holloway at the scene said crews made repairs to the pole shortly after the crash and  the road reopened.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said traffic lights were out along the area when he was coming in to work.
