Couple whose wedding was canceled due to coronavirus find creative way to say vows

ATLANTA — A metro Atlanta couple had to cancel the wedding they'd planned because of coronavirus, but they found another creative way to exchange their vows.

Channel 2′s Kristen Holloway spoke to Travis and Kenna Grenier, who had originally planned to have 220 people at their wedding on Saturday. After a year of planning, their plans came to a complete halt because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“I feel so bad. She spent so much time and effort planning this over the past year so it was a little disappointing,” Travis Grenier said.

But despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines of no large gatherings, the couple decided to have their wedding anyway -- it just looked a little different.

They said their vows privately and exchanged rings with their dog Dozier as the best man and ring bearer. They also had a cake, popped champagne, ate pizza and danced the day away with their family and friends all watching safely on Facebook Live.

"We got the table set up, I threw my dress on, we took some photos," Kenna Grenier said. "It was a really, really, really good day."

The couple is staying optimistic for their upcoming honeymoon.

“We have a honeymoon planned for Aruba and we not sure if that’s going to happen,” Kenna Grenier said. “That’s in May, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for that.”

The couple said they’re not sure if they’ll have another wedding because the future is so uncertain.
