City of Atlanta extending housing relief to more people affected by COVID-19

ATLANTA — The City of Atlanta is expanding housing relief to city residents affected by COVID-19.

The city will now offer mortgage relief along with help on rent, utility and security deposits.

Applicants will have to provide proof that COVID-19 has impacted their finances, live within the incorporated city limits of Atlanta, meet household income guidelines and provide proof of rent, mortgage or utility bills to qualify.

Applicants will also need to document the amount of they need based on past due bills or a security deposit. Funds may be used to cover past due rent, utilities, mortgage and security deposits as a result of impending eviction.

Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to ensure their application is approved by the federally mandated deadline of Dec. 30, 2020. Eligible households may receive up to $5,000 of assistance. People who have already applied may apply again.
