Catering company says it’s struggling after food truck stolen from parking lot overnight

ATLANTA — A southwest Atlanta catering company is desperate for the public’s help.

Creole Orleans Catering Company posted surveillance video on their Instagram page showing the moments their food truck was stolen from the Greenbriar Mall parking lot.

“This is our baby,” chef and co-owner Perly Gedeon said. “This food trailer is how we got started. It’s what we are known for. It’s how we pay our bills and feed our family.”

Atlanta police are investigating after the suspect was seen driving a light-colored pickup.

The video shows the truck backing up, hitching the food truck to their vehicle and then driving off.

Investigators say it happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“We can’t afford a hit like this,” co-owner Marzell Byrd said. “We are just a mom-and-pop business.”

Despite having a permanent location inside the mall, the events they cater with the food truck are their main source of income.

The catering company has also started a GoFundMe account to help buy a new truck.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to the food truck and/or the suspects who took it.
