ATLANTA — The Atlanta Police Department confirms an officer involved in use of force depicted in a Facebook video has been relieved of duty.
The arrest happened on June 22. Someone posted video on social media.
The officer is seen punching a man who was on the ground in downtown Atlanta.
Chief Erika Shields with the Atlanta Police Department said the officer has been relieved of duty and is currently on administrative leave.
Shields says she will review the evidence to determine the appropriate disciplinary action, if any.
"Chief Shields has always held professionalism and honesty in high regard and will continue to hold her officers to the highest standard," according to the Atlanta Police Department.
