ATLANTA — Showers and storms are expected across North Georgia all night long Thursday.
Severe Weather Team 2 has been tracking the current pattern of tropical air that has brought lots of humidity to the region.
That tropical air is also causing the afternoon storms we’ve seen all week.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said Thursday’s storms will stick around throughout the night.
“Nothing widespread, but they’ll be out there,” Burns said. “They will continue for your morning commute as well.”
Burns said by late Friday night, some of the western suburbs will have seen an addition 1-2 inches of rain.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Scattered showers expected Friday morning, some heavy at times.
- Showers and thunderstorms will be widespread across North Georgia by Friday afternoon.
- Rain and storms will fizzle out by the evening.
