ATLANTA — Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin’s public cardiac arrest raises the question as to what to do when someone suffers cardiac arrest near you.
The first step is to call 911, but this week Channel 2′s Linda Stouffer tried to figure out the next steps when a life is on the line.

“I have had many patients whose lives have been saved because a loved one actually knew CPR,” Local cardiologist Dr. Marcus Brown says.
The American Heart Association has step-by-step videos and in-person training available.
The organization also donates defibrillators to schools, and most have verbal cues about what to do in the heat of the moment.
