4 hit in Gwinnett shooting; Suspect charged

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga.,None — Police said four people were involved in a drug-related Gwinnett County shooting.

Tuesday's attack was initially thought to be a triple shooting, but police now say two people were killed and two were wounded. Police said gunfire erupted after a drug deal fell through at a home on Ivy Crest Drive in unincorporated Buford.

Police have charged 23-year-old Haile Lewis with murder and aggravated assault. They said he was also shot and showed up at Grady Hospital for treatment in a stolen car.

The other surviving person hit, 23-year-old Justin Kendall, managed to run to a home on Ivy Crest Drive just after 2 p.m.

"He was just banging on the door yelling, 'I've been shot. I've been shot,'" resident Whitney Patrick said.

The victims that were fatally shot were identified as Daniel Turpin, 23, and Trenton Jones, 23.

Lewis and Kendall are expected to fully recover from their injuries.
