• Report of 3 people shot at Country Club of the South is a hoax

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - Police tell Channel 2 Action News that a report of three people shot at the Country Club of the South community was a hoax.

Investigators told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik that a man called the Alpharetta Police Department and said that he had shot three people inside a Johns Creek home and was holding a woman hostage.

Officers set up a perimeter outside the huose and ordered everyone out. That's when they realized the whole thing was a hoax.

"I think it's a very distasteful type of situation to waste the resources of police and fire departments," Lt. Nick Curry of the Johns Creek Police Department.

Police said a nanny and two children were inside the home. The homeowners were not there, but police said they had nothing to do with the call.

Police said it can be difficult to track down the person behind the call.
