13-year-old stabbed may have suffered brain injury

CLARKSTON, Ga. — A teenager stabbed in DeKalb County earlier this week may have suffered brain damage, according to victim's family.

Bawi Cung Lian, 13, a student at Freedom Middle School, was stabbed by a group of teenagers Friday. The attack happened at the Willow Branch Apartments in Clarkston.

Lian underwent surgery at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Lian's father said his son suffered wounds to his head and will likely have brain damage. As of Saturday, Lian was not awake and unable to communicate.

Lian was home because school officials suspended him for fighting. Police are looking into whether Friday's attack was part of an ongoing dispute.
