Jackson woman pulls $5M prize in McDonough

ATLANTA — A Jackson woman has stockpiled a plentiful prize with an instant ticket from the Georgia Lottery. Wanda Williams, 55, played the instant game Millionaire Jumbo Bucks, winning a $5 million top prize.

“I cannot believe it,” exclaimed Williams upon claiming her prize. “I just keep asking everybody to validate it.”

Chevron McDonough, 898 Highway 81 E. in McDonough, sold the winning ticket.

“I had gone to the post office when I decided to stop,” she said. “I’m just in disbelief, and I’m just so thrilled!”

Williams and her husband, Troy, have an adult daughter.

The lucky winner plans to save her windfall.

“I’m going to be very smart, and I will be very conservative,” she shared.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
