Helicopter Disappears On Flight To N. Ga.

ATLANTA — Georgia Civil Air Patrol units continue an air and ground search for a missing Robinson R44 helicopter in north Georgia.

Authorities said Pilot Adam Reeves and one passenger were last seen around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening when they stopped for fuel in Madison, Ga. The helicopter was on a flight Monday from North Palm Beach, Fla., to Blairsville, Ga. but did not reach its destination.

The Air Force Rescue Coordination Center alerted the Civil Air Patrol to begin a search and rescue mission after a family member of Reeves reported an overdue helicopter.

The search is focusing on an area from Madison to Blairsville. Three ground teams are currently in the area following up on reports from the public. Nine sorties covered around 450 square miles Wednesday and continued searching throughout the following day.

Authorities described the helicopter as having an unusual yellow and blue paint scheme. The Civil Air Patrol is asking anyone who may have seen this particular helicopter Monday evening to call their local law enforcement with the details.
