SNELLVILLE, Ga. — (AP) — Authorities in Georgia are searching for a man accused of shooting and wounding his ex-girlfriend while their 1-year-old child was nearby.

Venezia Cole is wanted by Gwinnett County police on several charges including three counts of aggravated assault, first-degree cruelty to children and second-degree criminal damage to property, news outlets reported.

Police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said authorities were called to a home in Snellville Tuesday afternoon, where a woman was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

A relative told police Cole was supposed to be dropping off diapers when the shooting happened, Pihera said.

After Cole shot the woman, he fired multiple rounds into the home, Pihera said. No one inside the home was injured. The child was outside during the shooting but it's unclear if the child was injured. The woman was hospitalized; her condition was intermediately released.

Cole was last seen driving a black 2009 Infiniti G37, Pihera said. Anyone with information can contact Gwinnett police or Crime Stoppers.
