Man arrested after allegedly stealing from Ga. church, deputies say

MONROE COUNTY, Ga. — Monroe County deputies say they arrested a man accused of stealing from a church.

Officials say they received a call in regarding a burglary in progress at Parker Chapel AME Church located on GA Highway 83 South on Saturday.

When they arrived, deputies spotted a man running away from the church on foot and after attempting to make contact with the man, he fled on foot. After a brief search of the area deputies located and arrested 24-year-old Joshua Bauer of Macon without incident.

Deputies say they recovered three microphones and other miscellaneous items Bauer had taken from the church. When they arrived at the church, they noticed Bauer entered from the back of the church through forced entry.

He was taken to the Monroe County Jail and will be charged with burglary, criminal damage to property, and theft by taking.
