AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - A Georgia man is accused of shooting into an Augusta home and killing his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the Richmond County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Marquie Gunter was arrested and faces charges, including murder, in the Tuesday night death of Ja'Ziah Pollard.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Gunter had a lawyer.

Gunter is the live-in boyfriend of the girl's mother, Jackqueline Ingram.

The sheriff's office says that Gunter repeatedly shot a vehicle during an argument, and Ingram ran inside and locked the door. The sheriff's office says Gunter kicked open the door and fired once into the home, hitting Ja'Ziah in the head.

Ja'Ziah was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The sheriff's office says Gunter wasn't related to Ja'Ziah, but he has a baby with Ingram.
