LUMPKIN COUNTY, Ga. — A University of North Georgia student has been charged with false statements after officers say she lied about being raped.

Rebekah Lim called Lumpkin County 911 on May 24 and told them she was running on a trail at the reservoir when she was raped.

Officers went to the Sunset Suites on the UNG campus, where Lim told them she was. She explained to them what happened, and the trail was immediately searched.

The following day, another search of the entire trail was conducted, and there was still no evidence discovered, nor were there any suspects or witnesses found.

During the investigation, surveillance video on the UNG campus was viewed, along with Lim’s phone logs.

Officials said all evidence showed that Lim had falsely reported that she had been raped, and was not at the trail during the time she alleged the crime had occurred.

Lim is currently being held at the Lumpkin Detention Center, and a bond has not been set at this time.
