Marietta police said in a statement Friday that Kenneth Terry of Connecticut abducted the woman in Sandy Springs, Georgia, on Thursday. News outlets report that months earlier, the woman had tried to escape abuse from Terry. She told police he was continuing to make unwanted contact, forcing her to move to another city.
Police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy says Terry found the woman and beat and stabbed her before forcing her into a car. She escaped from a hotel parking lot.
McPhilamy says Tennessee State Troopers captured Terry following a Friday chase that topped speeds of 100 mph (161 kph).
Investigators say the woman also accused Terry of sexual assault.
