FORSYTH, Ga. (AP) - A head-on crash in Georgia has left two people dead and seriously injured a 10-month-old boy.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the wreck happened Thursday on Ga. 83 in Monroe County when a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche collided with a 2006 Nissan Altima.

Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Lawson Bittick says 24-year-old Carole Foster, of Forsyth, was trapped in the Altima and died at the scene. The 10-month-old traveling with her was flown to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

The driver of the Avalanche, 50-year-old Howard Zach, of Forsyth, was also killed.

Bittick says Zach was traveling south and Foster was heading north. Witnesses say Foster allegedly crossed the center line approaching the crest of a hill.

    An investigation is ongoing.
