ATLANTA - Channel 2’s “Georgia Salutes America includes a mix of musical entertainment, a special tribute to the men and women who serve in our armed forces and the South’s most spectacular fireworks show, live from Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta, GA.

Jovita Moore, anchor of Channel 2 Action News at 5, 6 and 11 p.m., and sports anchor Zach Klein will host this special event.

The program’s opening number features Lisa Kelly, international singing star and former Celtic Woman, and Geoff McBride from “The Voice.”  Local sister act Von Grey and an ensemble of Georgia high school musical theater performers will also help kick off the night.

“Georgia Salutes America” includes the Georgia Lottery premiere of “Hope for the Future,” a video tribute featuring hundreds of Georgia students. It celebrates 20 years of Pre-K and Hope Scholarships.   The lottery will also unveil the winners of this year’s “4th in 4 words” contest during the live special.

The primetime special honors those who serve in the armed forces with soldier greetings from around the world and will showcase the winner of the Montlick & Associates Most Deserving Military Family contest.

The finale of the evening is Centennial Olympic Park’s Fireworks Spectacular, Atlanta’s best fireworks display synchronized to a special selection of patriotic and popular music.

“Georgia Salutes America” at Centennial Olympic park is a great way for local families to celebrate our country’s independence,” said Tim McVay, vice president and general manager of Channel 2 WSB-TV. “Either attending live or watching our telecast on Channel 2 continues this great tradition,” McVay added.
