Downpours forecast through afternoon

ATLANTA — Heavy downpours are expected in metro Atlanta Monday afternoon.

Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist David Chandley said there is no severe weather expected, but downpours will be common after 2 p.m.

"The rain will be over by 10 p.m., with cooler air arriving by tomorrow morning," Chandley said.

A wind advisory is in effect for north Georgia until 5 p.m., with wind gusts up to 40 mph in areas above 1,500 feet possible.

Chandley said it will be breezy in the metro area through Wednesday.

The high on Monday is expected to reach 64, with a gradual drop on Tuesday to a high of 60 and a low of 39.
