Caught On Tape: Suspect Sets Truck On Fire

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia Arson Control, Inc. is offering up to a $10,000 reward in connection with an arson in a Walmart parking lot.

Gwinnett County Fire investigators are looking for the person responsible for setting fire to a vehicle in the Stone Mountain Walmart parking lot on Rockbridge Road Friday just after 3 a.m.

According to fire investigators, someone pulled into the parking lot in what investigators believe to be a black late 1990s Buick Regal and stopped at a 1978 Chevrolet Cheyenne pickup truck. The truck was parked near the front of the store, fire officials said.

A witness said the passenger in the car got out and approached the truck.

Authorities said the witness reported hearing a loud pop and then the witness saw flames coming from the pickup truck. The witness said he saw the passenger running away from the burning vehicle.

Investigators believe that the victim was targeted and that the incident was not at random. Fire investigators said they have no motive in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gwinnett Fire Arson and Explosives Section at 678-518-4890 or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered by Georgia Arson Control, Inc. for information leading to the arrest and of the person(s) responsible for arson.
