• Atlanta Weather: Storm May Bring Heavy Rain, Winds

ATLANTA - A round of intense storms is moving through metro Atlanta and north Georgia, and it could impact your Saturday evening plans, said Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for most of metro Atlanta and north Georgia. It does not include the far western suburbs, said Nitz.

Nitz expects the storm system to bring damaging wind, including wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, lightning and very heavy rain.

"They'll be scattered storms, but intense," said Nitz.

The storms will linger overnight, but the chance of more storms goes down Sunday," said Nitz.
