• 26 Inducted Into UGA's Student-Athlete Leadership Academy

    ATHENS, Ga. - Twenty-six University of Georgia student-athletes have been inducted into the inaugural Student-Athlete Leadership Academy.

    The student-athletes were chosen for induction based on academic and athletic success, leadership, campus and community service involvement, and recommendations of head coaches and academic counselors.

    "The Leadership Academy gives the Athletic Association an opportunity to recognize student-athletes that have excelled in many areas," said Carla Williams, Georgia's Associate Athletics Director for Student Services and Senior Woman Administrator. "The program will also provide an opportunity for these student-athletes to hone their leadership skills as well as compete for awards and scholarships."

    The inaugural inductees are:

    Men's basketball: Gerald Robinson Jr., Nashville, Tenn.

    Women's basketball: Jaleesa Rhoden, London, Ontario.

    Football: Ben Reynolds, Bainbridge, Ga.; Aron White, Columbia, Mo.; Charles White, Columbia, S.C.

    Gymnastics: Noel Couch, Towaco, N.J.; Grace Taylor Johnson, Aiken, S.C.

    Soccer: Jenna Buckley, Atlanta, Ga.; Marah Falle, Lilburn, Ga.

    Softball: Alisa Goler, Frankfort, Ill.; Taylor Schlopy, West Hills, Calif.

    Men's swimming: Matt Bartlett, Atlanta, Ga.; Bill Cregar, Sewell, N.J.; Mark Dylla, Littleton, Colo.; Andrew Gemmell, Wilmington, Del.

    Women's swimming: Lisa Caprioglio, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Chelsea Nauta, Tampa, Fla.; Allison Schmitt, Canton, Mich.; Wendy Trott, Capetown, South Africa.

    Men's tennis: Drake Bernstein, Winder, Ga.

    Men's track and field: Brian Moore, Willow Grove, Pa.

    Women's track and field/cross country: Odeika Bent, Montego Bay, Jamaica; Kylie Foley, Acworth, Ga.; Bridget Lyons, Evans, Ga.; Georgina Nembhard, Ocean Township, N.J.
