Things 2 Do

Spend the weekend with John Oates at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds

The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee welcomes John Oates of the famed American rock duo, Hall & Oates, for the kick-off of the 2018 Live at the Lake concert series. The weekend of February 23 – 25 will be filled with classic Hall & Oates hits, new John Oates singles from his highly anticipated solo album, Arkansas, debuting in February, intimate storytelling moments, southern fare and much more. Fans who book the ‘Live at the Lake: A Weekend with John Oates’ package will enjoy private one-of-a-kind experiences with the singer and songwriter himself, along with all of the amenities, activities and culinary offerings and more that the lakeside resort has to offer.

The weekend kicks off on Friday evening with an intimate chat between Oates and his fans. Attendees will enjoy readings from his first book, Change of Seasons: A Memoir, as well as have the opportunity to ask him questions about his life and music – nothing is off limits! A guitar will be in the room so you’ll never know when Oates may break into one of his many hits, or a fresh tune off his new record. Guests will receive both the book and the album as gifts upon arrival in their luxurious lake view guest rooms, which they can have signed following the reception.
“I love doing songs and storyteller style shows that give folks a chance to dive deep into the imagination of a songwriter,” said John Oates. “Doing a show in a beautiful resort living room setting gives me a chance to unwrap the creative process and the audience comes away with a deeper appreciation of where some of their most cherished musical memories came from.  I look forward to making these connections at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee.”
Saturday will be a night to remember, as guests are transported to the rustic Sandy Creek Barn for an evening of southern fare and music. Guests will enjoy a delicious three-course dinner with wine pairings prepared by the resort’s expert chefs, before John Oates takes the stage with his trio, and GRAMMY award winning Americana artist and friend Jim Lauderdale. Throughout the evening they will play old favorites, all-time hits, and new tracks for an unforgettable up-close and personal experience.
“Music is all about connecting... emotionally, spiritually and personally,” said Oates. “In my experience, performing live is when that moment of connection becomes real. In my career I've had the chance to play for hundreds of thousands of fans all over the world, and although the energy that comes from playing before a large audience is exciting, nothing can compare with actually relating to music lovers in an intimate setting. Eye-to-eye and person-to-person... that is where the real connection happens.”
While not spending time with Oates, guests can take some time to enjoy the many amenities at the resort, from hiking and biking to relaxing in one of the cozy hammocks, treating themselves to a world-class spa treatment, or a round of golf on one of the championship courses.
The ‘Live at the Lake: A Weekend with John Oates’ package starts at $2,900 for a single guest and $3,500 for two guests, inclusive of tax and gratuities. In addition to the exclusive experiences with John Oates, the packages also includes overnight accommodations in a Lake View guestroom, breakfast for two guests in Georgia’s each morning, and complimentary resort fee that covers valet parking, Wi-Fi, bikes, non-motorized lake recreation and more.
