Atlanta is home to a number of secret rooms − bars and lounges that require secret passwords or membership. Once you're inside, you get to party in an immersive environment that has specially crafted foods and drinks for guests' enjoyment.
We've uncovered four secret bars located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, along with the scoop on how you can get into them.
The only way to stop by this classy, top-secret Buckhead bar is by making a reservation. Himitsu, a lounge located at 3050 Peachtree Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30305, is "by reservation only," because the owners want to stay true to the Japanese Omatenashi culture. From bite-size Japanese cuisine to custom libations envisioned by cocktail maestro Shingo Gokan, Himitsu will surely deliver a unique experience. All you have to do is email email@example.com with LOVE in the subject line to request a reservation. Then you will hear back with next steps. Plan to visit the bar on either Wednesday or Saturday, because it's only open those days from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Immerse yourself in the ambiance of the Victorian era by stepping into The Blind Pig Parlour Bar, 128 E. Andrews Drive NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. Taking nods from the 1920s speakeasy style, the bar requires guests to say a secret password to enter its hush-hush location, which is behind a door in the back of Smokebelly BBQ. It's easy to get the secret code, though. Simply ask someone who works at The Blind Pig Parlour Bar's sister locations, such as Smokebelly BBQ, for the password. Once you've made it to the bar, take your pick of its signature cocktails, including When In Rum, Hedwig, Last Word and El Diablo. Come by 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday to Saturday to enjoy the tastes, sights and sounds of the Prohibition time.
Relax and unwind at The Club at Chops, 70 West Paces Ferry Road NW, Atlanta, GA 30305, which has a private lounge that lies behind an unmarked door. The trick to getting inside is to have a membership to the opulent establishment. Dana Russell, executive assistant at the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, said most accepted applicants are referred by a current member. Successful candidates should be prepared to remain on a waiting list for 2-3 months. To request an application, give Russell or the Chops general manager a call. Once you're inside, you can enjoy delicacies from one of the top ten steakhouses in the United States.
Within KR SteakBar, 349 Peachtree Hills Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30305, lies a hidden bar area called The Bureau. It doesn't take any secret codes to get into this space. Just let a KR SteakBar employee know that you're interested in entering the secret room, and he or she will lead the way. Within the area, you can taste eats off the restaurant's Italian focused menu, such as a ribeye, spaghetti and mussels. Plan to visit the lounge on a Friday or Saturday during regular business hours, and be sure to make your reservation in advance because space is usually booked.
