• Ice skating coming to Ponce City's rooftop terrace

ATLANTA, Ga. - Just in time for the holiday season, The Roof at Ponce City Market invites you to “Skate the Sky.” As an extension of Skyline Park, Skate the Sky rooftop ice-skating will take place at Rooftop Terrace, the Roof’s private event space. High above Ponce de Leon Avenue and overlooking the Atlanta Beltline and Old Fourth Ward, the space will transform into a rooftop winter wonderland from Monday, November 20, through Wednesday, February 14.

Slater Hospitality – the team behind the roof’s acclaimed amusement park, Skyline Park and modern beer garden, Nine Mile Station – invites children and adults to lace up their skates this season to twist and twirl across 3,500 square feet of ice, while enjoying the city’s best skyline views and indulging in seasonal food and beverage offerings. The covered space will be aglow with holiday lights and décor, and offer hot toddies and a variety of other food offerings from Skyline Park. Access to Skate the Sky will be available for $15 per person including skate rental and 50 minutes of skating, plus admission to The Roof.

The high-tech transformation from private event space to ice rink required complex engineering – the first of its kind in Atlanta. Installation recently began and will include cranes to lay the framework of the rink 10 stories up on the Roof. Slater Hospitality’s team and engineers will use high tech piped mats cooled by a 120-ton glycol compressor to build the surface.

“Skate the Sky” is slated to open to the public on Monday, November 20. Guests will be able to enter the ice rink as a walk-in from Skyline Park ($10 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and under) or Nine Mile Station
