Simone Biles makes history with 21st World Championship medal

STUTTGART, Germany — Simone Biles is now the most-decorated female gymnast in history after winning her 21st World Championship medal in Stuttgart, Germany.

NBC Sports reported the 22-year-old gymnast's feat comes as Team USA won its fifth consecutive world championships. For Biles, the only non-teen on the team, it may be her last.

"Every year it feels better and better just because we're adding to the legacy," Biles said, according to The Associated Press. "I feel like I never think of records. I just go out there and do what I came to do, which is compete for the country."

Biles posted the best individual scores. She competes in the individual finals Thursday, where NBC Sports reported she is favored to win.

If she gets a medal in the individual competition, she will be one shy of Vitaly Scherbo’s all-time record of 23 among men or women.
