Atlanta History Center celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Get free admission to the Atlanta History Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 20. With admission, visitors will be able to view the center’s latest exhibit Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow.

The exhibit explores the African American struggle for full citizenship and racial equality that unfolded in the 50 years following the Civil War. The exhibition highlights the ways African Americans advocated for full inclusion in American democracy from 1865 through World War I. Black Citizenship in the Age of Jim Crow was created by the New-York Historical Society in collaboration with the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Atlanta History Center has enhanced the exhibition with a focus on local stories and artifacts.

The exhibition features art, historical artifacts, photographs, and specially-created media pieces. Programming created specifically for Atlanta audiences includes performances, lectures, discussion, and exploratory activities for visitors of all ages.
