Roddy is frustrated, but don't blame Ryan

By Zach Klein

We all know wide receivers like being the center of attentionand the attention of the Falcons offense is not going through Roddy White.  Well, that’s the perception. Who cares about facts.

White is frustrated and he’s letting his emotions get the best of him.

At crucial points in the games against both the Packers and Panthers, White was flagged for personal fouls. Two personal fouls called in two games. Two touchdowns the entire season.

“Roddy is an emotional guy,” said tight end Tony Gonzalez. “That’s one of the things we love about him. He cares, but whatever it is, you have to play smart. I know Roddy is a smart player, one of the smartest I’ve ever been around, so if it’s one of those things where maybe he lost his cool, I know it won’t happen again.”

In his first six games in 2010, White caught 43 passes for 546 yards and three touchdowns. After six games in 2011, 34 receptions for 373 yards and two scores. Nearly 2 fewer catches and 30 fewer yards per game than a year ago.

White has made the Pro Bowl the last three seasons and owns the franchise single season receiving record with 1,389 yards in 2010, and when he’s mentally involved, he’s one of the most feared receivers in the game.

“You forget about Roddy White,” said former Falcons cornerback and 2011 NFL Hall of Fame inductee Deion Sanders. “You’re going to Julio (Jones) and you’re forgetting about your All-Pro receiver, one of the most prolific receivers in the last several years. I don’t wish injury on anybody, but they should get back to him (Roddy).”

The Falcons are trying to get him the ball. In fact, New England’s Wes Welker is the only player in the league who has been targeted more than White this season.

Julio is not going anywhere, and Roddy better get used to it.
