The game lasts for three hours. Bragging rights last for 364 days.
Georgia and Georgia Tech fans work in the same office together, they go to the same church, get their hair cut at the same barber and even marry one another.
This annual showdown and final regular season game for both teams will never decide a conference championship, but it sets the tone for the next year for their respective fan bases.
"This rivalry means everything to me, being from Georgia," said Bulldogs linebacker Christian Robinson. "If we lose, then I know that I will be hearing about it from the Tech fans that I go to church with. That's a big reason that we're so motivated to win this game. I know for me personally, thatadds to the excitement."
Georgia can win the SEC and play in a BCS bowl, but should the Bulldogs lose Saturday, Tech fans will remind them of it every day.
I asked Paul Johnson on Tuesday if he gets the feeling the Yellow Jackets Nation would rather beat Georgia than compete for an ACC Championship.
"I think it varies from individual to individual," said Johnson. “I think most fans want to win once a week. Certainlyin a rivalry game they want to win. Everybody who's involved wants to win."
Let me know what you think.
Who's fan base is this game bigger for?
