Carbon Monoxide Safety Precautions Human Error is now being blamed on that carbon monoxide leak at Atlanta's Finch Elementary School last week. Two maintenance employees failed to re-open a valve on the school's boiler causing it to overheat, but it's not always human error that causes carbon monoxide. It can be produced by anything that comes from a flame and doesn't get enough oxidation or air. You can't smell it, or see it, but you can protect yourself from it as Channel 2 Meteorologist David Chandley was told by an expert. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends carbon monoxide alarms on each level of your home outside each sleeping area, and at least an annual professional inspection of all fuel- burning appliances like furnaces, stoves, fireplaces, clothes dryers, water heaters and space heaters to detect deadly carbon monoxide leaks.

Genesis Shelter Donations Non profit organizations not only need volunteers they also need donations and supplies and thanks to Channel 2 viewers, many of those organizations got it. The occasion was Georgia Gives Day and on December 6th,  everyone was encouraged to log on to one website and donate to their charities of choice. To help raise awareness about the campaign, Channel 2 Action News anchor Jovita Moore asked viewers to drop by our studios and make a donation to her favorite charity... Genesis Shelter. The shelter supports homeless infants and their families. Thanks to American Signature Furniture, one of our FAMILY 2 FAMILY underwriters truckloads of donated items were loaded up and delivered to Genesis Shelter.
