Exciting news from our recent rainfall. Earlier we reported that 25 counties in North Georgia were removed from any drought classification. That holds true, but today, for the first time since January 2012, there is no level 4 (or exceptional drought) status in the state of Georgia.

Rainfall of 3-6 inches over the past week in Middle Georgia has been beneficial. There are four levels of drought; level 1, yellow=moderate drought. level 2, orange=severe drought, Level 3, red=extreme drought, and level 4, purple=exceptional drought.

The rain has been good to Lake Lanier too. Today's level of 1064.68 is the highest mark since May 31, 2012. Full pool is 1070, and the monthly average is 1066. Right now we are in the heart of the recharge period and its possible to fill the lake by mid Spring.
