Lake Lanier Continues to Rise

As we enter one of the driest months of the year (April is #1, October is #2 in least amount of average rainfall), it is nice to see that the drought situation across our state is improving. After some heavy rain earlier in the week, many parts of North Georgia are now out of a drought completely.

Just last week, most of the metro area was either in an extreme or severe drought, with parts in the highest drought level of exceptional. Now only the the western counties and areas southeast of Atlanta are classified as extreme and higher. Check out how many counties in North Georgia are now drought free.

The level at Lake Lanier continues to slowly rise, now above 1063 for the first time in more than a month. The forecast calls for drier and cooler weather which means no rain, but lower evaporation rates. Peace.
