While the 5day forecast has a wild swing in temperatures, I see warmer weather ahead the next two weeks. Check out the chill by mid week, but it is quickly replaced by mild to warm air by the end of the week and then really warm over the weekend.
No doubt we are in a La Nina winter weather pattern and unlike last year, it is not being over taken by the North American Oscillation. So the upper level wind patterns are going according to form. The polar jet is locked up to our north and the southern branch is zipping along the southern tier of states. The result: above average temps for most of the country on both the low and high range and above normal rainfall for the area squeezed between the two jets.
So the cold air we receive is modified and is quickly replaced by a SW wind. Right now I see that trend the next two weeks, so winter will be in retreat. Sorry snow wishers, your opportunities are diminishing. Peace.
