I spent the day up at Lake Lanier talking with Tim Rainey who is with the Army Corps of Engineers. He is the project manager for Georgia's largest lake and at times catches some heat. His job, a lot like mine, makes some folks unhappy. Remember he is just the messenger and I enjoy my visits with him. Here is the latest report: Lake Lanier update.
These next two months are when our area lakes recharge for the spring/summer season. We need more rain. The level today is just over 1060 and that is 10 feet below full winter pool, and 5 feet below the average for January.
I thought it was interesting in talking with Tim, that the lakes that are fed by Lanier are doing quite well, so when it rains, Lanier will be able to keep most of its run off.
The drought situation has not changes for North Georgia this week despite the light to moderate rain. Peace
