This is where technology and science can save your life. A robust weather system looms over the horizon and with each passing hour, the severe weather threat for North Georgia increases. The science tell us what is about to happen, its the technology that can relay that message. The scariest time for storms to hit are in the middle of the night, when tv viewership is at its lowest point. It is events like the one setting up for Thursday night/Friday morning that verifies the need for your family to have a warning device in your home.
The Storm Prediction Center has all of North Georgia in the slight risk to see a severe storm fromĀ 7am Thursday to 7am Friday. Storms capable of supercell structure producing isolated tornadoes and damaging thunderstorm winds of 70 mph are possible.
Its a classic storm set-up: Warm tropical air in place, being lifted by a strong cold front from the west. Mid level winds will race from west to east providing shear in the lower levels.
A forecast of significant tornado parameters has a higher threat to our west Thursday night with a lesser threat over North Georgia by early Friday morning.
Please check back for updates and I urge you to get your family either a NOAA weather radio or a warning app on your phone or computer. Peace
