While most of the world celebrates Dec. 21st as the first day of winter (winter solstice), those of us that work in the weather world mark December 1st as the first day of meteorological winter. So..the season is here and an early look says the month may be warmer than average. Yes we will see a few cold snaps early on, but overall I think the temps will be above the averages.

I spent this morning at Lake Lanier Islands Resort, not playing golf, but at a conference on drought. I'd rather been playing golf, but duty calls and the information was appreciated. While most of Georgia is in a drought, the next four weeks will dictate if it will improve through the spring months or take a turn for the worse. Check out my story set to air on Friday.

Take in a Christmas parade this weekend. The big one is the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas parade right thru downtown Atlanta. It begins at 10:30am and heads south on Peachtree St. toward Five Points. I will be hosting the annual Lilburn Christmas Parade at 10am right down Main St. in Lilburn. If you are looking for small town feel good parade hear to Lilburn. Peace.
