ATLANTA - Temperatures are dropping in metro Atlanta, and a rain and snow mix is expected to start after midnight.
According to Severe Weather Team 2's Brad Nitz latest forecast models, there is a 70 percent chance of precipitation Friday, and the wintry mix is expected through the afternoon.
We're tracking the chance for wintry weather in your area, on Channel 2 Action News at Noon.
"I expect a rain, snow mix across much of metro Atlanta Friday morning," Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
Nitz said this mixture will likely continue through Friday afternoon, but we'll only see accumulations of less than 1 inch because it will be continuously melting.
Once Friday passes however, Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Karen Minton advises to still use caution.

“Any moisture left on the roads could freeze Saturday morning with temperatures dropping into the mid- and upper 20s,” Minton said.
The forecast is fluid, and there is no need to panic, Minton added.
“Do not go to the grocery store and wipe out all the bread and milk because you won’t need it,” Minton said.
