...Winter Weather Threat Remains Through Saturday Morning...
Despite some areas of of East and Central Georgia not being in an
Advisory, there remains the possibility of some winter weather
primarily Friday evening into early Saturday. That said, we will
see some patchy sleet across the area late this afternoon but
warming temps above the surface should allow a return to just rain
during the evening.
The rain will continue into Friday with anticipated temperatures
being warm enough to allow for just a cold rain across the area.
During the late evening into the overnight period however, colder
air will begin to infiltrate the area allowing for a possible
transition to a rain and snow mix before the precipitation exits
the area. Only light accumulations over isolated locations would
be expected under this scenario with limited travel concerns
Of more concern will be into Saturday morning as temperatures will
approach the freezing mark allowing for residual water on elevated
surfaces to freeze. Caution is advised on area roadways late
Friday night into Saturday morning for this black ice potential on
mainly elevated bridges and overpasses.
