Code Red Smog Alert Issued For Atlanta

Air Quality Will Be Unhealthy

The metro Atlanta area is under a code red smog alert.

That means the air quality is expected to be unhealthy for everyone on Wednesday.

People are urged to limit outdoor exposure. People with respiratory programs are advised not to go outside.

The National Weather Service says highs should be in the low to mid-90s.

Flash Flood Watch in effect Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning, issued for 2-4" expected as Ida passes nearby. The forecast this week is highly dependent on Hurricane Ida's path.

Monday: Increasing clouds. Rain moves in Monday night. Low in the low 50s, high near 70.

Tuesday: Cloudy, windy, heavy rain likely. Low in the mid 50s, high in the low 60s.

Wednesday: Clearing skies. Low near 50, high in the mid 60s.
