80's Flashback -- Heartthrob Plays Chastain

ATLANTA -- While the posters from the bedroom wall might have come down years ago, Friday night at Chastain Park Amphitheater proved one thing -- the female population's love for Rick Springfield lives on.

The Working Class Toured rolled through Chastain Friday night with thousands of adoring women filling the crowd. They were there to see 80's heartthrob himself, Rick Springfield.

Springfield headlined the tour. Patty Smyth & Scandal opened the show. Eddie Money of 'Two Tickets To Paradise' fame belted out several hits in-between.

The Tour was part of this year's Delta's Classic Chastain series.

Some consider Springfield to be the original teen idol, striking a chord with the teens and 20-something crowd back in the 80's. In fact, many women at the show still wanted to be 'Jessie's Girl,' the song Springfield made famous telling the story of a friend's girlfriend that he wanted for himself. Other Springfield hits include 'I've Done Everything For You' and 'Don't Talk To Strangers.'

Springfield played for nearly a hour and a half. Several times during the show, he left the stage and climbed atop the tables in the crowd to play. A few fans got the chance to sing with him.

Before Springfield hit the stage, Patty Smyth and Scandal sang several hit songs including 'Goodbye To You.' Eddie Money entertained the crowd for a hour with hits including 'Two Tickets To Paradise,' 'Take Me Home Tonight,' 'Walk On Water', and 'Shakin.''
